Hi:

At work I have four QAPI teams, that are Clinical, Management, Business, and Safety/Equipment. There are ten managers, each of whom serve on either one or two teams. I am the overall coordinator, so I work with each team. From this example you can ascertain that there are diversities in the composition of each team including generational and professional differences. I will be using Ellis’ (2020) article that we’ve been discussing to support my assigning team roles, and I will also share what I’ve learned with my team so that as a group we can make better decisions about how to best reach our desired goals. At the present time I assign roles based upon what I know about each member and what I perceive their talents and contribution levels to be. While I expect I have made good choices, I think that if I share information with them and allow the team to help with role assignments then we can all gain a better understanding of each other. The more that members are involved and are able to use their unique talents best, the higher the chances of success.

All: Can anyone share examples from team experience at your work, and how you delegate responsibilities? What methods, if any, do you use to identify each member’s best specific talent? Please discuss.
