Steps of writing fiction

Writing fiction is another interesting type of assignment you can be assigned by the professor to write. The fiction involves your imagination and other preparations that cannot be rushed or be thought abruptly. In general, writing good fiction will require the student to prepare a lot of materials and information that will be included in the fiction. The fiction involves literary work where students must write what they imagine about people or some creatures.

Fiction is divided into various categories; some fiction is based on children and is in the short story category. The other fiction is based on older children and others for adults. The various categories help one to know how the preparation will be. For instance, simple and straightforward language must be used if the fiction is for the children. Also, the level of engagement of the fiction must be high to ensure the children are enjoying the fiction. For older children and adults, the fiction must use complex language that makes sense to the children. The content must have a good flow since it is not for children. It is always important to consider the amount of content for your audience to not bore them with your content.

It is important to brainstorm for you to know what exactly you want to write for the fiction. In brainstorming, you will have to think of that good story that you have ever read and what greatly motivated you in the story. Some stories have a good plot, well-organized characters, and styles, among many other important parts of the fiction. If you brainstorm, you will know how the fiction utilized the plot, character organization, and other important things in writing fiction. In simple terms, you cannot just start writing fiction from nowhere; if you have never read any novel or short story, it would be important to know how other authors organize their work in the writing process.

If you write your fiction without any idea of what it should look like, it might result in poor grades or rejection for publication purposes. Always brainstorm before you start writing your fiction to know what you can borrow from a story that inspired you. If you remember a story from a particular fiction, do not write exactly as you read it or as it looks like, prepare and ensures your writings will be unique and different from the original author. You are supposed to write your own ideas, do not paraphrase, make them unique, and own them.

Find characters

In every fiction, there is a character or characters; you cannot develop fiction without characters. Your characters can make the fiction boring or interesting. In your writing, if it is a short story, do not include too many characters; ensure it is within the limit if the content and how the characters have been arranged are making sense. If you are developing adult content fiction, you can write enough characters to make the story even much more interesting than where you borrowed the idea. The characters of the fiction can be developed based on what you are writing about; every character you develop must have a role to play in the story. If you want a character to appear in the first scene and disappear in the rest of the scenes, ensure you tell the readers what happened to the character. Sometimes authors in writing fiction kill the characters without telling the readers what actually happened to the person. If you do such a thing, you will have confused your audience, and they will not find interest in your fiction. The best thing is to organize your characters well and ensure they take their role correctly.

Find the main point of view.

There is no fiction written without the main point of view. There is that thing that you want your fiction to reflect. You want the main point of view to be reflected in the characters and all the happenings of the fiction. Sometimes your title cannot always be clear, and there, the main point of view must be seen in your characters and the happenings in the setup you have decided. Do not confuse your main point of view, simply make it clear and direct with simple words. In making this happen, decide who is your first, second and third person on the fiction.

Prepare an outline

In preparing to write fiction, you can have as much information as possible. The main problem is that you can sometimes forget all that information you have not placed or recorded somewhere. Therefore, the best thing will be to prepare an outline that will include what you want to focus on in the writing process. In all situations, an outline will save you a great deal; it will make you have a good organization of content and proper fluency of information.

Prepare how you end your fiction.

Preparing for how you will end your fiction is very important. The start of your fiction and the ending of your fiction plays the same role. In starting your fiction, you need to start with catchy words, and when ending, you need to end, leaving the readers with something to think about.

Start the first draft.

After preparing all that is needed, you will need to write your first draft. Your first draft will consist of the information you want your fiction to have in the initial scenes or in the first happening of your fiction.

Give a break

After your first draft, take a break and check over your first writing before the second draft.

Prepare for the second draft.

After the break, you can write your second draft. If you plan to write a lot, you can repeat the procedure the same way.

Compile your writing

Now you will have to compile all the drafts you have prepared for the fiction to be complete.

Proofread your work

After you have compiled everything, proofread your work to ensure there are no errors.
