When companies are branding, they must understand the product they are about to introduce to competitors and customers. While the identities of brands are under wraps, in the beginning, the company needs to be able to understand the business strategy and environment (Fortenberry, 2010). During this process, the company must invest in the product to make it appealing to the customer. While branding companies need to develop values and a mission statement, a target market must be accepted. For example, the company I work for is opening a new program (Fortenberry, 2010). They are putting up banners and radio commercials. Two of the cars we drive with the company’s logo and mission and information about the company. The company is givingout note pads, pens, mugs, and bottle warmers with the company’s logo on it. The company is getting the programs out there and leaving a memory in the customer’s mind about the product (Fortenberry, 2010).
